Insurance Surveys

An insurance survey is often requested by insurance companies to evaluate the risk associated with a vessel. This inspection primarily assesses the vessel’s structural integrity, safety for its intended use, fair market value, and replacement cost. Insurance companies commonly require this survey when issuing new policies or renewing existing ones, especially for older vessels.

While similar to a pre-purchase survey, an insurance inspection focuses mainly on the vessel's general structural condition and the installation, condition, and functionality of critical systems and safety equipment. It generally excludes non-essential items such as cabinetry, entertainment equipment, and other features not crucial for safe operation of the vessel. Unless specifically requested by the insurance company, out-of-water inspections and trial runs are usually not included.

All inspections are performed using current United States Coast Guard regulations and the standards set by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
